The “Peacock Spade” – awarded for the resident gaining the most points in flowers, fruit and vegetables
The “Biddenham Gardeners’ Association Challenge Shield” – awarded for the BGA member gaining the most points in flowers, fruit and vegetables
The “Mrs. Lilly Bowl” – awarded for the best dahlia entry by a resident
The “Miss Bertha Simmons Bowl” – awarded for the best small flower arrangement (not to exceed 23cm width, height and depth)
The “Maurice Appleton Rose Bowl” – awarded for the best large flower arrangement (not to exceed 90cm width, height and depth)
The “1913 Cup” – awarded for the most colourful flower arrangement (not to exceed 90cm width, height and depth)
The “Mr and Mrs Ted Pile Cup” for the best flower arrangement by a child aged 16 years or under
The “Tyros Vase” – awarded for the most points by a new resident in flowers, fruit and vegetables
The “Bristow Cup” – awarded for the most points by a lady resident
The “Sir Douglas Gordon Cup” – awarded for the most points by a gentleman resident
The “Graham and Betty Bates Cup” – awarded for the most points by a resident family
The “Captain Carter Plate” – awarded for the resident displaying the best exhibit of fruit or herbs
The “Ted Brooks Cup” – awarded for the resident displaying the best exhibit of vegetables
GARDENING
Entries will be judged by ‘Market’ or ‘Garden’ Standards and not by ‘Show’ Standards which require special preparation of the entry.
- Asters – 3 blooms
- Dahlias – 3 cactus blooms

- Small flower arrangement, “Jewels”. Not to exceed 25cm in width, depth or height. Accessories allowed.
- Large flower arrangement, “Where Have All the Flowers Gone!”. Not to exceed 90cm in height or 60cm in width and depth. Emphasis is on foliage but may include one or more of fruit, berries, vegetables and seed heads.
- Colourful flower arrangement, with theme “Party Time”. Not to exceed 90cm in width, depth or height. Accessories allowed.
- Eating apples – 3 of one variety
- Cooking apples – 3 of one variety
- Pears – 3 of one variety
- Carrots – 3 of one variety
- Onions – 3 of one variety
- Shallots – 3 of one variety
- Runner beans – 3 of one variety
- Potatoes – 3 of one variety
- Tomatoes – 3 ‘Cherry’
- Tomatoes – 3 ‘Standard’

YOUNG BIDDENHAM GARDENERS
Young Biddenham entries have been classified by school year. Please note you should enter the class which corresponds to the school year you have just finished.
The “Ormerod Cup” for the most points by a child aged 12 years or under entering any of the gardening classes.

- Cress grown from seed in an unusual container.
Years 1 – 4
- A fruit or vegetable decorated as a real or an imaginary animal.
Years 5 to 7
- A fruit or vegetable decorated as a real or an imaginary animal.
Years 8 to 11
- A fruit or vegetable decorated as a real or an imaginary animal.
